Learnwell Collective
Summer 2024
Uplift Academy provided students at Learnwell Collective in Alpharetta, GA a 7 day summer camp in June 2024. Through our extensive curriculum which has interactive lessons and hands on projects, students were able to learn the foundational coding skills and apply them in their own creative way.
Day 1 | Students were introducted to the basics of the platform Scratch. By the end of the day students had a better understanding of the stage, the sprites, the script and the programming area. |
Day 2 | Students were able to start their own creative project. By the end of the day students created a foundation for their game. |
Day 3 | Students learned about loops and conditionals. By the end of the day, students were able to incorporate basic logic into their projects, adding interactivity and dynamic behavior. |
Day 4 | Students explored variables and lists. They learned how to track scores and manage multiple elements in their games. By the end of the day, students were able to implement a points system in their games. |
Day 5 | Students were introduced to sound and animation. They experimented with creating sound effects and animating their sprites. By the end of the day, students added audio and animation elements to their projects. |
Day 6 | Students participated in a debugging session where they learned how to identify and fix errors in their code. By the end of the day, students enhanced their troubleshooting skills and refined their projects. |
Day 7 | Students presented their final projects and shared their creative ideas with the group. The camp concluded with a showcase, where students demonstrated their games and received feedback. |
Fall 2024
Uplift Academy is partnered with Learnwell Collective in Alpharetta, GA for a 6 week HTML course which will run until the mid of Nov. Students will be able learn the basics of HTML and use their creative thinking to create their own customizable website.
Week 1 | Students were introduced to HTML, learning about its use and the basis of the programming. They learned about headings, paragraphs, fonts, colors, and images. |
Week 2 | Students were taught more advanced topics including links, lists, and tables. They explored how to create ordered and unordered lists for organizing content, hyperlinks for navigating between pages, and tables for displaying structured data. Additionally, they were introduced to basic HTML forms to capture user input, such as text fields and buttons. |
Week 3 | Students began learning CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to enhance the visual appeal and engagement of their websites. They learned how to modify fonts, colors, and layouts, which will allow them to start transforming their basic HTML projects into more visually compelling and interactive web pages. |
Week 4 | Students began combining their HTML and CSS knowledge to create fully styled web pages. They focused on structuring their content effectively while applying creative designs, such as unique color schemes, fonts, and layouts. |
Week 5 | Students worked on finishing their websites, adding final touches to their designs and content. They ensured their projects were ready. |
Week 6 | In the final week of the program, students showcased their code to their peers |
